Class Level Descriptions

The classes at RYC are leveled so that you can more easily choose the class that suits you.

Level 1 is for students new to yoga, as well as continuing students who need a refresher course or prefer a slower paced class. Focus in the class is on the fundamentals of alignment, so students can develop a solid understanding of the basics.

Level 1–2 is also appropriate for beginners and for those who have some foundation in yoga. Level 1-2 moves at a slightly faster pace.

Level 2 is for ongoing yoga students already comfortable with the basics. Students will explore a wider range of poses including inversions and back bends.

Level 2-3 is for ongoing students looking for a more challenging class where more difficult and complex poses will be explored. Please speak to instructor before attending this class.

Saturday Workshops: In these two-hour workshops you will explore a specific area of yoga in-depth. We'll take a look at how to approach more difficult asanas and/or pranayama, discuss their benefits and the ways to practice them at home. For more information, please visit our Events page.

Introductory Yoga Class: This two-hour introduction to yoga, one of our Saturday Workshops, is for students new to yoga and/or the Iyengar method taught at RYC. In this overview class, you will learn important safety tips to keep in mind when you practice the asanas, discuss basic philosophy of yoga and ask the questions you may not have time to ask in a regular asana class.
